Stagger
Recontextualizing traditional acoustic treatment by thinking about every day objects as a solution.
Introduction
Omit any bias toward seemingly random objects. Testing from Riverbank Acoustical Laboratories showed that these chairs exhibited mild broad-band absorption.
If these objects absorb sound; why not treat them that way?
Hard Surfaces
There are no hard surfaces within Stagger's assemblage. The concept behind this project is rooted in metrics, specifically, the absorption coefficient of hard plastic chairs one might typically look past. Riverbank Acoustical Laboratory tested these chairs and verified some mild broad band absorption
Development
The form evolved by thinking through how chaos is organized.
Music is the architecture of potential energy.
Therefore, a system derived from the staff of sheet music.
This method is utilized to secure the chairs in a sequential arrangement.
Not only is this solution visually intriguing, but it allows for plywood sheets to be deconstructed and expanded to fit a lager surface area.
The end result is one of organized chaos.
